Evolving

While I have gone on to make and show more work since I first completed this piece, Evolving is special to me because it embodies my growth from art enthusiast to artist. I’ve been reflecting on this transition, and what an adventure the making of this piece was. Learn more in my piece on Substack.

Featuring panels of silk, cotton, woven fibers, and quilted fabric, this work responds to the myriad framed views and changing textures the visitor experiences while moving through the Florida Botanical Gardens’ various landscaped spaces.

Taken together, the pieces depict a map of the gardens, highlighting the native, fruit, aquatic demonstration, ca

ctus and tropical gardens as well as the natural area. Species represented include white fringe tree, saw palmetto, American crinum lily, duck potato arrowhead and agave.
